About the Department
The Department of English has embarked on a remarkable journey, witnessing a consistent increase in the number of students in both the Honours and General categories. This surge in enrolment is a testament to the department's continuous improvement and progress. The addition of new teachers, both in permanent government-sanctioned positions and as SACT-I, has contributed to the department's enhanced organization and efficiency. Adapting to the newly introduced Choice Based Credit System (CBCS), the department has successfully managed the diverse and extensive syllabus for both categories, streamlining its operations to meet the student's needs effectively. Despite the unexpected challenges posed by the pandemic, the department has seamlessly transitioned to online classes, ensuring a smooth continuation of academic activities over an extended period of time. The faculty has gone above and beyond to motivate and support the students during these difficult times, maintaining order and facilitating the successful completion of both internal assessments and end-semester exams. Looking ahead, the department eagerly anticipates the day when they can once again interact with students in person, hosting events such as Fresher's Welcome, Farewell, and academic tours. These occasions foster a sense of camaraderie and create cherished memories that will last a lifetime. Additionally, the department engages in regular in-house seminars, theatrical performances, and collaborative efforts to create wall magazines, providing both academic and creative outlets for students and faculty alike. In summary, the Department of English has demonstrated resilience and adaptability, ensuring the smooth functioning of academic activities despite challenging circumstances. Its commitment to fostering a positive learning environment and providing opportunities for student engagement remains unwavering.
