About the Department
The Department of History at Sree Chaitanya College, Habra is one of the oldest and largest departments in the institution. It offers B.A. Honors and General Programme Courses in History under the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). The department currently consists of four substantive teachers and two SACTs (Self-Financed Teachers). In addition to the traditional chalk-and-talk method, the teachers in the department employ modern teaching techniques to meet the demands of the knowledge-driven era of technology. The departmental library is well-equipped with a wide range of references and textbooks, providing valuable resources for the students. With a competent faculty, the department aims to empower the youth through education.
The primary objective of the department is to achieve academic excellence and instil a sense of moral responsibility and good values in the students. Emphasis is placed on developing strong verbal and written communication skills. The department regularly organizes students' seminars, quiz programs, mock tests, cultural programs, and other extracurricular activities. Students are also taken on day tours to places of historical interest, enriching their understanding of the subject.
